The MU Master of Public Health Program is pleased to be a participant in the Coverdell Fellows Program. This program provides graduate students who are returned Peace Corps volunteers an opportunity to utilize and build upon their overseas experience. Service learning and civic engagement are an integral component of each returning Peace Corps Volunteer. Engagement with local communities is active, developed in partnership with those affected, and mutually beneficial to all involved.
Coverdell Fellows receive a departmental assistantship that carries a tuition waiver, subsidized health insurance, and a competitive annual stipend toward financing their graduate education. Volunteers can apply for the Fellows/USA any time after they complete their Peace Corps service.
Benefits
Coverdell Fellows in Public Health are supported by a nine-month, half-time (0.50 FTE) assistantship stipend, renewable for a second year upon satisfactory progress in the Master’s program. The fellowship provides a full educational tuition waiver (also renewable for a second year) and subsidized health insurance. Students are responsible for paying university fees.
