MHS prerequisite coursework

For students with bachelor’s degrees in fields other than communication sciences and disorders, the following coursework is required to prepare for acceptance into our master’s degree program in Speech-Language Pathology.

This study plan is designed to be completed in one academic year, providing students with the foundation to succeed in the program. The post-baccalaureate plan consists of 26 credit hours in total.

For post-baccalaureate advising and information, please contact Dr. Dana Fritz, director of undergraduate studies for the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences.

Please note: To meet prerequisite requirements for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s certification in speech-language pathology, students must also have at least one course in each of the following areas: biological sciences, behavioral/social sciences, chemistry or physics, and statistics.

The coursework should include the full range of basic communication sciences, plus some communication disorders coursework.
